LISD honors employees

The Laredo Independent School District recognized the district’s Plant Facilities and Support Services employees during an awards luncheon on Tuesday afternoon at the Laredo ISD Performing Arts Complex Conference Center. The luncheon celebrated over 300 of LISD’s hardest working employees. 

The luncheon began with a welcome message from LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios followed by a barbeque lunch prepared by LISD Child Nutrition Program. 

LISD Board President Hector “Tito” Garcia, LISD Board Secretary Monica Garcia and board member Rick Garza greeted the audience and thanked them for their hard work and dedication to LISD. 

The district also acknowledged and honored a group of hard working and devoted employees. These six individuals, who have over 142 years of service combined, were presented an award by LISD Board Secretary Monica Garcia, LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios, LISD Assistant Superintendent for Plant Facilities and Support Services Angel Velasquez, and LISD Executive Director of District Operations and Personnel Relations Esteban Rangel for their dedication and commitment. 

These included Sergio Neira, Director Division of Operations; Sylvia De Leon, Assistant Manager Child Nutrition Program; Felix Cruz, Clerk I Custodial Fixed Assets and Textbook Department; Norma Gomez, Bus Monitor Transportation Department; Leticia Saldivar, Head Custodian Performing Arts Complex; and Jose Hector Soto, Foreman Division of Operations.

During to the ceremony, the Martin High School Mariachi Tigres Del Sur, under the direction of Bobby Castro, provided live entertainment for the audience.
